Scribe Program In Partnership with FAU
MyClinic has partnered with FAU’s Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Jupiter to launch a Scribe Program in fall 2018. Starting September, a group of 4-5 FAU undergraduate pre-med students will begin a semester-long program in which they will learn about, shadow, and become scribes.
Scribes are responsible for recording all the information that the healthcare professionals observe and assess. This will allow them to gain first-hand practical experience by interacting with Myclinic patients, doctors and nurses. Selected applicants will get the chance to perform this critical job of helping keep medical records of patients as accurate as possible, enabling a continuum of care at the highest quality standards.
We expect this to be the beginning of a self-sustaining program in which experienced scribes are responsible for training new scribes. This will provide an invaluable opportunity to undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career in medicine, helping to push the future of medicine farther along their path. MyClinic has even contacted a clinic in Virginia having a similar initiative to gain insights into existing best practices.
Interested applicants should bring in a serious interest in pursuing a medical profession, time commitment (preferably able to volunteer up to senior year), willingness to learn and be coached, capacity of processing information quickly and in a comprehensive manner.
